BRING YOUR OWN HAIR TO YOUR CROCHET BRAID APPOINTMENT

When supplying your own hair for a crochet braid installation appointment, you will need to keep in mind I still require to know what brand of hair you are bringing as well as the name of the hair. For example, Freetress Water Wave is a popular style. In this example, Freetress is the brand of hair and Water Wave is the name of the hair. This information is needed to ensure I've booked adequate time to complete your crochet braid installation and to make sure you've  ordered/purchased enough packs to complete the install.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN ORDERING YOUR OWN CROCHET HAIR
Highlights - If you want highlights, 1 pack of the highlight color is adequate. The rest of the packs are of the base color. Often times, I see clients who just want simple highlights bring 2 or 3 packs of the highlight hair and less of the base color of the same number of packs as the base color. If you want a 50/50 blend or hair then just buy the same amount of packs of the base color and highlight color.

Number of Packs - It is important that with each new hair you order that you not only send me the brand/name of the hair but you confirm that the number of packs you are ordering or have on hand are sufficient to complete your crochet braid style. If you do not bring enough packs you risk leaving with an incomplete crochet braid installation. You will not be allowed to leave and purchase additional hair to complete the style.

Order or Buy Hair in Advance - It is recommended that you purchase hair as early as possible for your appointment. My professional recommendation is order or buy hair no less 10 business days (Not including Weekends) to ensure you receive the hair on time for your appointment. Waiting too long to order or buy hair can result in hair being out of stock, the color being out of stock or not receiving the hair in time for your appointment.

Pre-Separated Hair or Premoisturize - Some hair requires pre-separation and I will not this hair either dropped off to me or you can have it shipped to my address upon ordering.  Pre-separation just means this hair needs to by prepped prior to installing in order to make sure I can install the hair in the allocated installation time frame.  Some crochet hair, not all, takes time to separate, therefore adding more time on the back end of the installation time. I will inform you at the time you let me know what hair you are ordering/purchasing or already ordered/purchased if it needs to be pre-separated for your appointment. I will require the hair no less than 48 hours before your appointment, but I will accept the hair far in advance for those who wish to provide it sooner.

Changing Hair Choice - Once you tell me what hair you are bringing. I will prepare for, not only your appointment, but other appointments I've booked that day using the information I know about the characteristics of each crochet braid hair I will be using that day.  If you decide to change your crochet braid hair style after you have informed me what hair you are bringing, then you will need to let me know that you want a different hair so I can determine if the new hair fits into the appointment time block allocated for the previous hair you chose. Showing up for an appointment with hair different from the one you initially chose can result in your appointment being canceled and being charged a same day cancellation fee.

Local Beaty Supply Stores (BBS) - Keep in mind if you are getting hair from your local beauty supply stores, they have limited stock. You will need to know what crochet brands and crochet styles are sold at your local beauty supply store to determine if you have to order the style you want or if you can purchase it from the store. All crochet hairs are not sold at all beauty supply stores therefore if you have your heart set on a certain style and plan on purchasing it from your hair local BBS check to see if they have it. Then you will know for sure that it has to be ordered.

Maintenance[edit]

Moisturizing hair and scalp with oils or leave-in-conditioner[3] is a matter of preference. A light oil spray, such as Argan Oil, works well with crochet braids, since it is light and deep moisturizing. However, over-moisturization can lead to product build up.[3] The protective style is typically preserved during sleep by covering with a satin bonnet or scarf.[3]

Removal[edit]

To remove, pull loop over pre-braided or twisted synthetic hair end reversing installation. Take down may require scissors for loose or wavy crochet hair.[6] Cutting as close to knots as possible.[3][6]

Post removal treatment such as deep conditioning, helps prevent hair breakage by restoring moisture.[3]

Keeping your passion twists well at night is a key factor to having a long install and preventing tangling. Remember to tie your hair up at night and use a satin bonnet or scarf. Silk is also a good material to use. Beware of the beauty supply shop bonnets as some of them claim to have ‘satin lining’ but it can sometimes be just a random material put inside.

A satin or silk pillow case is also acceptable to use, if you do not use hair bonnets or scarves. This easy night time routine makes such a difference to your hair. Even with my natural hair, there were times when I didn’t protect it at night and the tips of my hair would knot. But once I started to use a satin bonnet my hair remained soft and smooth. So you can imagine how much of a difference this makes for your passion twist hair.
